Scouting spirit, brotherly bonds shine as young men serve pilgrims during Hajj
Dubai: In a rare and striking coincidence, this year’s public service camps for Hajj 2025, organised by the Saudi Arabian Scouts Association, have brought together three sets of Saudi twins, all committed to the sacred mission of serving pilgrims.
Hailing from the scout group affiliated with the Civil Development Association in Riyadh’s Al Rabie neighbourhood, the six young men, namely Hussam and Issam Saeed Al Qarni, Azzam and Ammar Suleiman Al Sulaiman, and Walid and Muhannad Abdul Hakim Al Otaibi, have taken on the responsibility of supporting pilgrims with a blend of brotherly unity and unwavering dedication to volunteerism.
The Al Qarni twins shared that scouting has been more than just a hobby; it is a lifelong calling shaped by their upbringing. “We were raised to love our country,” they said. “Scouting gave us the chance to express that love through action—guiding pilgrims, offering first aid, and assisting wherever needed. Every moment in Hajj teaches us something new—about patience, compassion, and discipline.”
For the Al Sulaiman twins, the experience has revealed a deeper level of their bond. “We thought we knew each other inside out,” they said with a smile, “but in the high-pressure environment of Hajj, we discovered new dimensions of teamwork and resilience. Everything we do is for the pilgrims and it is our honour to ensure their comfort.”
The Al Otaibi twins described their participation as nothing short of transformative. “This is more than service, it is a lesson in humility and initiative,” they said. “We are learning how to stay composed in crowded situations, how to act without expecting recognition, and how scouting can shape you in profound ways. Sharing this journey as twin brothers makes it even more meaningful, viewing it as an experience they will carry for life.”
