5 erring foreign trucks impounded; fines of SR10,000 each slapped
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority has seized five foreign trucks for breaching land transport regulations by transporting goods within Saudi cities without a valid license. Each violating truck was fined SR10,000 and impounded for 15 days.
These violations were detected during intensive inspection campaigns conducted by the authority, which reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward regulatory breaches.
Under the escalating penalty system, repeat violations result in stricter fines and longer impoundment periods:
Second violation: SR20,000 fine and 30-day impoundment.
Third violation: SR40,000 fine and 60-day impoundment.
Fourth violation: SR80,000 fine and 60-day impoundment.
Fifth violation: SR160,000 fine and 60-day impoundment, with the possibility of truck confiscation for repeated non-compliance.
The authority has pledged to intensify nationwide field inspections to detect and prevent violations, ensuring fair competition, supporting national carriers, and maintaining strict regulatory oversight. These efforts align with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, which aims to enhance the efficiency and global competitiveness of the sector.
