Dubai: Violations by foreign trucks in Saudi Arabia have jumped by 203 per cent in 2024 to over 26,000 cases, compared to 8,569 in 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics said yesterday.

The surge in violations comes as foreign truck drivers continue to flout regulations issued by relevant authorities.

In response, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced a ban on foreign trucks transporting agricultural products, livestock, and fodder within the Kingdom’s public utility markets unless they obtain a permit from the Transport General Authority (TGA).

In a circular, the ministry said violations were observed among trucks transporting these goods in breach of established rules and regulations.

The Minister of Transport and Chairman of TGA directed a notification to establishments and farmers, urging them not to contract foreign trucks for domestic transportation.

The circular also mandates that foreign trucks be barred from entering markets supervised by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture— including public utility, livestock, and fodder markets — without a valid permit issued by TGA.
