Cairo: A Saudi man with a passion for tea has brought his enthusiasm to life by establishing a unique museum.

Wael Al Daghfaq spent several years travelling and collecting items to create the museum, which is now located in Al Khobar, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

The museum showcases antique teapots and accessories from around the world.

“I opened this museum only out of passion, love, and a solid bond between me and the things I’ve built up from my travels,” Daghfaq told Saudi-owned broadcaster MBC.

He added that the museum became a reality in 1980 and now houses thematic collections he gathered over the years.

“I have up to 7,000 pieces in the museum. I brought everything related to tea — from pots and cups, to varieties and advertisements.”

Daghfaq noted that the museum includes tools dating back 300 years, and is the first in the Arab world dedicated to tea culture.

“This museum has a big geographical space through which I can convey this culture to its visitors,” he said.

The museum offers visitors a journey through the history of tea and its global rise in popularity.
