Cairo: Saudi police had arrested a young citizen for making obscene gestures to a woman in a car, an official has said.

The Saudi man, in his 20s, had documented making the offence near a car boarded by a woman and uploaded it on social networking websites, spokesman for the Qassim police in central Saudi Arabia Lt.Col. Badr Al Suhaibani added.

“His act amounts to a crime as per regulations on harassment and cyber-crime combat,” he said.

“He was arrested and preliminary legal procedures were taken against him and referred to public prosecution,” the official added without details.

In 2018, the kingdom allowed women to drive for the first time in its history, ending a decades-old ban on female driving, a step that came to the dislike of some conservatives in the country.
