Batches of drug found to be not to meet specifications

Last updated:

Abu Dhabi: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has withdrawn the Profinal pediatric suspension, produced by the Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, after batches of the drug were found not to meet approved specifications.

The antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic product has the scientific name Ibuprofen, of which the registration number is 74-186-98.

The authority’s circular said companies should withdraw the drug, advised consumers to stop using it and see a specialist doctor for an alternative subscription.

The SFDA called on everyone to report side effects or defects in the quality of drugs through the toll-free telephone number 19999.
