Dubai: The General Directorate of Civil Defence in Saudi Arabia has warned that thunderstorms will continue affecting most regions of the Kingdom until Sunday, bringing with them the potential for flash floods, hail, and dust storms.

In the Mecca Region, authorities forecast moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in Taif, Maysan, Al Muwayh, Turbah, Al Khurmah, and Raniyah.

The weather system may lead to flash flooding, hail accumulation, and dust-stirring winds, reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.

The Riyadh Region is also expected to be impacted, with light to moderate rain and possible flooding and hail in Afif, Al Dawadmi, Al Quwayiyah, and Shaqra, among other towns.

The storm system is more widespread in the southwestern and western highlands, with moderate to heavy downpours expected in Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, and Medina.

Hail and local flooding are also possible in those areas. Meanwhile, Hail, Najran, and Qassim will likely experience light to moderate rainfall.

In its public advisory, the Civil Defence urged residents and visitors to avoid flood-prone areas such as valleys and low-lying regions, and to refrain from swimming during the storm period.

It also advised the public to follow official updates and safety instructions through government channels and social media platforms.
