Abu Dhabi: The Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, has issued a decision to localise professions in communications and information technology, local media reported.

The decision is applicable to all companies which employ five or more workers in telecommunications and information technology engineering jobs, and application development, programming and analysis, technical support and technical functions of communications.

The ministry aims to provide 9,000 job opportunities in the field of communications and technology to Saudi citizens, who will draw salaries of between 5,000 and 7,000 riyals.

The move comes within a series of decisions to localise the professions in the telecommunications and technical jobs, in keeping with an agreement concluded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Human Resources Development Fund and the Council of Saudi Chambers.

The ministry has issued a guide accompanying the ministerial decision, to clarify its rationale, details and procedures for its implementation in a more detailed manner.

Companies and job seekers may review the guide by visiting the official website of the Human Resources and Social Development.
