Dubai: A female obstetrician and gynecologist, who works at a private hospital in Medina, has been suspended from practicing the profession for health and safety negligence and not abiding by health rules.

Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Health, issued an order suspending the doctor.

A spokesman for the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Medina region said the decision was taken in accordance with Article 39 of the Law of Practicing the Healthcare Profession.

He stressed the ministry would not be lenient in applying penalties against those who are negligent in adhering to regulations.

The spokesperson said that the decision would remain in force until the competent committee rules on the charges against her.
