Dubai: Saudi Arabia have reported 10 cases of the new coronavirus variant, the Health Ministry announced. Dr. Mohammed Al Abdul Ali, the ministry’s spokesperson, said “We have detected 10 cases of the new COVID-19 strain. They have fully recovered after being placed under quarantine and intensive follow-up.”

The ministry conducted all the necessary procedures for 27 people who had been in contact with the infected patients. “They have tested negative; however, they were also put under quarantine,” Dr. Al Abdul Ali explained.

He confirmed there are no active cases of the new mutated virus now. The number of infections has fallen by 98 per cent in the Kingdom, the spokesperson said.

“More than one million people have registered through the “Sehhaty” app to get the vaccine jab, while over 137,000 people have already been vaccinated,” Dr. Al Abdul Ali added.

Meanwhile, the ministry announced the detection of 108 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the total infections to 363,485.

It also reported six more deaths, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities to 6,278.
