Dubai: As Ramadan enters its final stretch, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has ramped up its efforts to serve worshippers by distributing more than 200,000 iftar meals each day at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

The large-scale initiative is carried out in collaboration with charitable organisations.

Each day, more than 3,000 staff members and 1,000 volunteers coordinate and oversee the placement of 3,200 iftar spreads, which extend a combined 50km across the mosque and its surrounding courtyards.

Despite the vast scale of the operation, cleanup is completed with remarkable efficiency. Within just five minutes after sunset, all iftar areas are cleared and cleaned, allowing worshippers to seamlessly continue their evening prayers.

These operations are carried out in strict adherence to health and organisational standards, prioritizing the safety and comfort of worshippers in the designated iftar areas inside the mosque and its surrounding courtyards.
