Cairo: A ban on outdoor work during the summer heat in Saudi Arabia is due to come into effect as of next Tuesday, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced.

The ban on work under direct sun will be effective as of June 15 until September 15 daily from 12pm till 3pm.

Minister of Human Resources Eng. Ahmed Al Rajahi has approved regulations for occupational safety and preventive measures against exposure to sun and heat stress during summer.

Such a ban is seasonal in the Arab Gulf countries, home to large communities of migrant workers, in summer when the mercury shoots up.
