Dubai: The Jeddah Governorate recovered a government land plot in Al Salama neighbourhood after winning a lawsuit against a Saudi man who had unlawfully claimed ownership and built a house on it, local media reported.
The 1,400 square metre plot was designated for the construction of a public park but was claimed by the defendant 39 years ago.
The Jeddah General Secretariat won the lawsuit against the defendant. The Court of Appeal issued a ruling nulling the defendant’s ownership of the land, returning it to the state.
The court ordered the defendant to vacate the property and asked the national electricity and water companies to suspend services and cut the power and water service to the site.
The Jeddah Secretariat affirmed its continued efforts to prevent infringements on public properties and enforce royal orders and regulations that ban the use of public facilities other than what they are designated for.
