Driver’s licence can be obtained at 18 Hijri years

Abu Dhabi: The minimum driving age in Saudi Arabia is 18 years according to Hijri calendar, while learners can drive the road at 17 Hijri years of age under supervision, according to the Saudi Traffic Department.
The Hijri or lunar calendar lags behind the Gregorian or solar calendar by around 11 days every year.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Security Department, which can be accessed through the Absher platform, allows citizens and residents to to acquire a driver’s license.
A medical check-up is an essential part of the process.
This test includes blood samples, an eye test and a general check-up.
Applicants must also pass a theory test including 20 questions..
For practical training, the applicant must go to the driving school first to get an assessment and then the number of hours required for training will be determined.
