Public urged to exercise caution in several regions, including Mecca, Medina and Riyadh
Dubai: The Saudi General Directorate of Civil Defence has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rainfall and possible flooding in several regions of Saudi Arabia until Tuesday, urging the public to exercise caution and follow official safety guidance.
According to a statement released yesterday, residents are advised to avoid flood-prone areas, stay updated through official media channels, and take all necessary precautions amid the expected severe weather conditions.
The Mecca region is forecast to see moderate to heavy rainfall, with the possibility of hail and strong winds.
Similar weather patterns are expected in Riyadh, where moderate to heavy rain is expected.
Other regions likely to be affected include Medina, Hail, Qassim, the Northern Borders, the Eastern Province, Al Baha, Asir, and Jazan. The northern part of Najran may see lighter rainfall, the directorate noted.
The warning comes despite rising temperatures in many parts of the Kingdom. The Civil Defense urged all residents and visitors to remain vigilant and comply with safety guidelines issued by relevant authorities to minimize risks and ensure public safety.
