Abu Dhabi: Deportees from Saudi Arabia can only return for Hajj and Umrah, the General Directorate of Passports said, ending the controversy surrounding the fate of those deported from the country in accordance with the laws.

“Deportees can only return to Saudi Arabia to perform the rituals of the Hajj or Umrah, the Passport Department said on its Twitter account.

The remark was in response to a tweet by a Twitter user.

Deportation rules are strictly applied on all foreigners charged with committing crimes or breaking residency rules, the head of passports in Saudi Arabia warned.

Foreigners who arrive in Saudi Arabia on a visit visa need to be careful about their departure dates.

Those who overstay their visa validity will be fined up to 30,000 riyals, the official said.
