Rain could trigger flash floods and hail, accompanied by strong downdrafts
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense has warned residents of continued thunderstorms and possible flooding in multiple regions until next Wednesday, urging the public to steer clear of valleys, flood channels and low-lying areas, and to avoid swimming in them.
The Mecca region, including the cities and governorates of Mecca, Taif, Maysan, Adham, Al Ardiyat, Al Laith, Al Qunfudhah, Al Jumum, Al Kamil, Bahrah, Al Muwaih, Turbah, Al Khurmah and Ranyah, is forecast to receive moderate to heavy downpours.
According to meteorological reports, the rain could trigger flash floods and hail, accompanied by strong downdrafts that may stir dust and sand.
Similar conditions are expected in the southern regions of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and Najran, while lighter but steady showers are predicted for parts of Riyadh and Madinah.
Civil Defense urged residents to monitor weather updates from official channels and follow safety guidance as the unsettled weather moves across the Kingdom.
