Dubai: Saudi security forces have arrested 42 expatriates holding various types of visit visas for attempting to perform Hajj in violation of the Kingdom’s strict pilgrimage regulations.

The arrests were made in Mecca as part of ongoing security campaigns to ensure compliance with Hajj protocols designed to safeguard the health, safety and security of all pilgrims.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the individuals were found to have entered the holy city without proper Hajj permits, defying clear instructions issued to residents and visitors alike.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the violators, and authorities have also launched operations to identify and arrest those who facilitated their presence in Mecca — by providing transportation, shelter or other forms of assistance — in contravention of the law.

The ministry reiterated that those who are found guilty of aiding illegal pilgrims will face severe penalties, including imprisonment, fines, deportation, and the confiscation of any vehicles or properties used in the offense.

The authorities have consistently warned against attempts to perform Hajj without official permits, emphasising that only those with Hajj permits are allowed to enter Mecca during the Hajj season.

The public has been urged to report any violations by calling 911 in the regions of Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in other areas.
