Saudi Al Qaida leader in Iraq referred to court

Riyadh: Iraqi authorities have referred a leading Al Qaida figure Abdullah Rafie Al Shamri, a Saudi citizen, to court on charges of involvement in murders and bombings in the Iraqi province of Nineveh.

Saudi newspaper ‘Al Watan' quoted on Tuesday Brigadier Nafie Al Ugaili, Commander of the Rapid Reaction Brigade, as saying, "the power of our brigade pursued Al Shamri for a week and managed to arrest him Saturday evening in a raid". He was born in Riyadh in 1985 and entered the country in 2008 via Syria. Al

Questioning of Al Shamri led to the arrest of a terrorist group comprising 12 members, mostly from Arab nationalities, he said.
