The number of Umrah performers totalled 7,857,270 during the month
Dubai: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque said that more than 60 million people visited Islam’s two holiest sites during the month of Muharram in the Islamic year 1447 AH, supported by a wide network of services designed to serve pilgrims and worshippers.
According to the authority, the Grand Mosque in Mecca received 27,531,599 worshippers, among them 47,823 who prayed in the Hateem area of Hijr Ismail. The number of Umrah performers totaled 7,857,270 during the month.
In Medina, the Prophet’s Mosque welcomed 21,576,200 worshippers, including 1,122,368 who prayed in Al Rawdah Al Sharifah. Additionally, 2,110,375 people visited to offer greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his two companions.
The authority stressed that it is committed to ensuring the ease, comfort, and spiritual tranquility of visitors, in line with the directives of the Saudi leadership. It said the figures demonstrate ongoing efforts to uphold this commitment and reaffirmed its dedication to removing obstacles and further improving services at the Two Holy Mosques.
