Dubai: Saudi Arabia reported 176 new coronavirus cases and five fatalities on Sunday, while more than 295,000 people have so far received the COVID-19 vaccine as part of a nationwide vaccination campaign.

The total number of confirmed infections has now touched 364,929, and the death toll has risen to 6,323, Dr. Mohammed Al Abdul Ali, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health said.

“The COVID-19 vaccine is key to a healthy and safe society,” Dr. Al Abdul Ali said encouraging citizens and expatriates to sign up for the vaccine.

According to the ministry’s latest update, a further 146 fresh recoveries were registered over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of people recovered across the Kingdom to 356,687, with the recovery rate hitting 97.74 per cent. The active cases have also dropped to 1,919, out of which 319 are critical cases under intensive care.

Oman

The Ministry of Health reported 526 new cases and 3 deaths in the Sultanate over the past 24 hours.

The total cases in the country have now touched 131,790, including 1,512 deaths, according to the ministry’s latest update.

An additional 288 patients have fully recovered, pushing total recoveries to 124,067, with the recovery rate climbing to 94.2 per cent.

The ministry urged everyone to adhere to precautionary measures and social distancing protocols issued by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling COVID-19.

Kuwait

The Ministry of Health announced the detection of 378 new cases in Kuwait over the past 24 hours, bringing the tally of infections to 157,777.

No new deaths have been reported, keeping the country’s death toll at 947. An additional 464 new recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, taking total recoveries to 151,142.

The new cases were detected after 8,251 PCR tests were conducted in a single day, pushing total tests conducted across the country to 1,397,545. The active cases have now reached 5,688, including 54 that are under intensive care.

Bahrain

An additional 248 new cases have been detected in Bahrain, bringing the total confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 97,268.

One more fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, taking death tally to 358, the Ministry of Health said in its latest update. The new cases have been detected among 114 expatriate workers, 117 new cases are contacts of active cases, and 17 are travel related.

There were 313 fresh recoveries, pushing total recoveries to 94,039. The active cases have now touched 2,871, including 2,853 stable, 52 cases still receiving treatment and18 critical cases that are still under intensive care.

Qatar

The Ministry of Public Health today confirmed the detection of 188 new cases, bringing the total infections in Qatar to 147,277.

No new fatalities were reported over the past 24 hours, keeping death toll at 246.

According to the ministry’s latest update, a further 246 patients have fully recovered, pushing the total number of people recovered from the virus across the country to 143,858.

The active cases have now touched 3,173, including 297 that are stable cases under treatment, while 30 are critical under intensive care.
