Manama: A Saudi prince was arrested in Saudi Arabia for verbally and physically abusing people.
The arrest was ordered by King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
The king called for immediate action against Prince Saud Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Musaed Bin Saud Bin Abdul Aziz and his abusive companions who were filmed in video clips that went viral on social media.
Jeddah-based Arab News posted the Twitter video of the arrest on its site.
The series of clips showed the use of physical power and guns to beat or frighten people who in some instances had blood on their clothes.
The arrests were ordered due to the excesses and violations that require excessive punishment, and all abusers should be investigated for the crimes they had committed, the royal order said.
Testimonies should be taken from those abused or affected by the abusive behaviour in order to protect their rights, the order stated.
The royal order said that none of the accused should be released until a court verdict is issued and referred to the king.
The ruling, in accordance with the principle of justice and genuine commitment to fairness, was aimed to deter any deviant behaviour, protect the rights of every citizen and resident, and prevent injustice, coercion, abuse and infringement.
No abuse or violation by anyone, regardless of his position or status, should be tolerated, the order added.
Violations, transgressions or infringements that exploit status or influence should be reported and abusers should be referred to courts without delays, the order said.
