Manama: Seven people, including a child, were killed in a head-on car collision in Saudi Arabia.
Six people were injured in the crash on Sunday evening on Khubair road, near Al Ain village in south-west Saudi Arabia, the Arabic newspaper Al Sharq reported.
There were four passengers in one vehicle, and nine family members in the other vehicle. The family members were reportedly on their way to Abha to attend a tourism festival.
Police reported that speeding and overtaking were the likely causes of the crash, which instantly killed six victims, including a child. A seventh victim died at the hospital.
The road was cordoned off for around three hours after the incident, causing a massive tailback.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution especially during summer when there is an increase in traffic-related incidents.
