Dubai: Another 951 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Qatar during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the country up to 15,206, most of whom are expats, the Ministry of Public Health announced on Tuesday.

A total of 114 COVID-19 patients have made full recovery, the ministry said, bringing the total number of patients recovered to 1,924. No fatalities have been reported today, keeping the death toll standing at 12.

The ministry made it clear that the upcoming period will witness a fluctuation in the number of daily reported cases, which will shift between high and low, due to several reasons including that the outbreak of the virus is in the peak stage, after which the number of infections will begin to descend gradually.

Qatar has been ramping up its efforts to test people for the virus and has so far conducted 109,762 tests so after 2,967 new COVID-19 tests done over the past 24 hours.

The ministry urged the public to adhere to preventative measures to protect themselves and others from the virus.
