Cairo: Qatar has said that travellers, who have been fully inoculated with vaccines approved by the country’s health authorities, will not be quarantined as part of an updated travel policy that will come into effect beginning Monday, July 12.

The vaccinated passengers will take an anti-bodies test upon arrival in Qatar, Al Sharq newspaper reported.

According to the new procedures, Qatari citizens, foreign residents and visitors who have completed inoculation with vaccines approved by the Qatari Ministry of Public Health will need to conduct a PCR test at an accredited health centre in the country of departure.

The certificate must be valid for 72 hours upon their arrival in Qatar. This procedure also applies to all citizens and residents who are not vaccinated.

The new rules also classify countries into three categories - green, yellow and red. A quarantine policy for each category will be applied to unvaccinated travellers arriving in Qatar.

Arrivals from the green category will have to undergo domestic quarantine for five days.

Arrivals from the yellow category will have to go into hotel quarantine for seven days, while those coming from the red category will have to spend 10 days in hotel quarantine. The country lists of the three categories were not immediately available.

All passengers coming to Qatar will also have to pre-register on the “Ehteraz” website and attach all the required documents no less than 12 hours before arrival, the Ministry of Public Health said.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Interior Ministry announced resuming the issuance of tourist and family entry visas beginning July 12.

Passengers arriving at Qatar’s land, sea and air ports will be subjected to the health procedures determined by the Health Ministry related to the vaccinated travellers, or those who will go into quarantine to limit the spread of COVID-19, the ministry added.
