Dubai: Qatar has officially declared a five-day public holiday for Eid Al Adha, one of Islam’s most sacred celebrations, starting on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah, also known as Arafah Day.

The announcement comes after the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, approved the Cabinet’s decision on national holidays, as published in the country’s Official Gazette.

Under the directive, ministries, government agencies, and public institutions across the Gulf nation will observe Eid Al Adha holidays from Dhu Al Hijjah 9 to 13.

The Gazette also outlined Qatar’s full slate of public holidays for the year. For Eid Al Fitr, employees will be granted leave from the 28th of Ramadan until the end of the 4th day of Shawwal.

Additionally, Qatar National Day, celebrated annually on December 18, will remain a designated public holiday.

The decree provides flexibility in the holiday calendar, stating that any single working day that falls between two official holidays will automatically be considered part of the holiday.

Furthermore, weekends overlapping with official holidays will be included in the time off.
