Dubai: Dozens of girls in Qatar have reportedly accused a plastic surgeon at a famous medical beauty centre of sexually assaulting them, Arabic media reported.

The scandal came to light when several girls and women complained on social media that they had been sexually harassed by a doctor identified as M.A, a Syrian national working at a famous cosmetic surgery.

Accordingly, the Qatari Ministry of Interior launched an immediate investigation into the alleged harassment.

In a series of tweets, the ministry said: “With reference to the allegations being circulated on social media about unethical practices, some people were subjected to [a probe] ... the authorities concerned at the Ministry of Interior are following up on this issue.

“The Ministry of Interior is now investigating the matter, and we affirm our keenness to ensure the security and safety of all individuals,” the ministry tweeted.

Following the scandal, the surgery has announced the suspension of the Syrian doctor.
