Closure extended to give mall more time to comply with standards
Doha: The Doha City Centre will remain closed until Monday, reports here said.
The Civil Defence closed the posh mall to ensure its compliance with the required safety and security measures after a committee inspected it last Thursday, according to Qatar Tribune.
Initially the mall was closed for 48 hours until Sunday, but it was extended for two more days to give the mall’s administration more time to comply with the standards.
Meanwhile, the civil defence contained a minor fire, which broke out in a stair room of Concord Hotel on Sunday morning, according to the Ministry of Interior official Facebook page.
The Ministry of Interior also posted a notice to inform Qatar’s residents about the new alarm facilities, “For your safety, connect your fire alarm system to the Civil Defence Control Room. For more information, please contact phone number 44935655.”
