Manama: Qatar's first exclusive family mall will open on February 1, the mall promoters have said.

Watnan Mall, spread over 41,000 square metres, could well be the largest of its kind in Qatar, Shifa Ali Mohammad, assistant general manager of the mall, said.

Located close to Qatar Equestrian and Racing Club in Rayyan, the mall is named after a horse owned by the third ruler of Qatar, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Jassim Al Thani.

Shifa said that the mall would end the long wait of families who wanted a shopping location where they could shop in the comfort of family environment.

"The mall is built in line with our culture so we wanted to have a mall that would provide a different shopping experience for those families who could not do so at other malls or shopping complexes," he said.

"This mall was developed after taking into consideration the demand for a family mall in Qatar,” he said, quoted by Qatari media.

The three-storeyed mall will have 104 stores, a hypermarket, a mosque for men and women and 15 restaurants.
