Dubai: Qatar has reported another 640 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the Gulf country to 14,369.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, the majority of the new cases were migrant workers who were infected after coming into contact with others who tested positive for the virus, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The ministry also announced that 146 COVID-19 patients have made a full recovery, bringing the total number of patients recovered to 1,810. No new deaths were reported today keeping the country’s death toll at 12.

The latest cases were identified after the ministry conduced more than 2,360 new COVID-19 tests. A total of 106,795 people have been tested in the country as of Monday.

The ministry said that country will witness a fluctuation in the number of daily reported cases in the coming period, shifting between high and low rates.

This is due to several reasons, including that the outbreak is reaching its peak stage before the number of infections will descend gradually, the ministry said.

The ministry urged the public to adhere to preventative measures to protect themselves and others from the virus.
