Coronavirus: Qatar reports 279 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health reported on Sunday 279 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 1,604.

The ministry also reported one more death, raising the toll to four. A further 14 recoveries have also been recorded, taking the total to 123.

The victim was an 88-year-old Qatari man who suffered several chronic diseases.

The new cases are believed to be the highest reported in a single day since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The newly diagnosed patients are both Qataris and expatriate residents who either came from abroad or had been in contact with infected people.
