Muscat: Search and rescue operations continue in Oman to find two Emirati brothers who went missing in the sea of Mirbat province on Thursday evening.

Abdullah Mohammad Mansoor Al Dahri, 21 and Mansoor Mohammad Al Dahri, 19 went swimming in the sea despite warnings from authorities over rough waters.

Mohammad Al Dahri, a cousin who was with the brothers when the water dragged them away, painfully recounted to Gulf News the incident.

“Abdullah refused to let go of his little brother who was not a good swimmer after he saw him struggling to keep his head above the water,” he said. The waves carried the brothers further out to sea.

The Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) told Gulf News that they were searching day and night to find the brothers.

“We combed more than ten miles but have not found them yet,” he said.

The uncle of the brothers, Ali Al Dahri, said that the wait was tormenting the family.

Rescue boats, divers and a helicopter were being used in the search operations.
