Muscat: Oman has secured custody from GCC countries three suspected criminals, wanted in the Sultanate for economic crimes as well as robbery, according to a Royal Oman Police (ROP) press release today.

“An international alert was sounded through Interpol Muscat for these wanted persons of Asian origin,” Ali Al Kasbi, a spokesperson for the ROP’s Public Relations Department said.

He added that Qatar police deported two Asian suspects while Bahrain handed over a suspect, accused of robbery in Oman.

The first suspect handed over by Qatari authorities is wanted in a case of issuing dud cheques to one of the finance companies in Oman. The second suspect, an electrician by profession, deported from Qatar is wanted for misappropriation of his employer’s funds before leaving Oman.

Meanwhile, Bahrain handed over to Oman an Asian suspect, who has been accused of robbery here. The accused was caught at the Bahrain International Airport as he was about to flee.

“The handing over of the criminals comes within the framework of the existing co-operation between Oman and the GCC countries to combat crime and continue extradition of criminals,” Al Kasbi pointed out.
