The Sultanate to offer long-term residency for investors under golden visa programme
Dubai: Oman will roll out its new golden visa programme for investors on August 31, as part of wider initiatives aimed at strengthening the Sultanate’s position as a global investment hub and accelerating its digital transition in commerce.
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said the programme will be launched alongside the “Al Majida Companies” initiative, designed to support high-performing Omani firms, and a new service enabling the electronic transfer of commercial registrations via the “Oman Business” platform.
The announcements will be made at an event in Salalah, under the patronage of Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The event will also see cooperation agreements signed with Sultan Qaboos University, the German University of Technology, the Oman Energy Association, and Ebinaa to support the growth of Oman’s construction sector.
Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Douhani, the ministry’s Director-General of Planning, said the golden visa programme and accompanying reforms are intended to give investors long-term stability and opportunities for growth, while offering Omani businesses incentives to expand both locally and internationally.
He described the electronic transfer of commercial records as a step towards a fully digital trade environment — one that cuts time and costs for businesses while improving transparency.
According to Al Douhani, the initiatives reflect Oman’s commitment to building a more sustainable business environment by combining regulatory reforms with targeted support for local firms. They also align with government plans to modernise the construction sector through academic partnerships and private-sector collaboration to foster national talent and innovation.
Oman’s golden visa scheme follows similar programmes in Gulf neighbours such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which have sought to attract foreign investors by offering long-term residency rights to entrepreneurs and investors.
