Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested one person for trafficking in drugs in Salalah, about 1000-km south of Muscat, according to a press release on Tuesday.

“We had information that an Asian expatriate was selling narcotics in the Al Dhariz suburb of Salalah,” a spokesman for the ROP’s Public Relations Department said.

He added that the ROP officers caught the accused red handed with 11 rolls of marijuana in his possession. “The accused was caught before he could sell the drugs.”

Meanwhile, the police arrested four Asian expatriate from two different locations in the Batinah region in the north of Oman.

“Three accused were caught selling alcohol to workers at a site in eastern parts of South Batinah while the fourth was arrested from a farm in the same region,” he revealed, adding that a huge quantity of alcohol was confiscated from the farm.
