Oman lifts the ban on live birds import from US

Dubai: Oman has lifted the live birds import ban from the state of South Carolina in the US that was in place, and banned the import of live birds from Australia.

The decision on lifting the ban was taken by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. In a statement, the ministry said it has lifted the ban on import of all live birds and their products from South Carolina.

The ministry said: "The decision was based on a recommendation from the competent veterinary authority that the reason of the ban no longer exists."

Meanwhile, the ministry has temporarily banned imports of live birds and their products from Australia, with the exception of thermally -treated products. The ban decision is based on a recommendation from the competent authority. The ban will remain in place until the reason for the ban is removed,” the ministry added.
