Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), with the assistance of military and other security apparatus in the country, apprehended 112 infiltrators, trying to sneak into the country through the long northern coast, according to a press release.

On the other hand, the police deported 47 illegal residents caught during earlier raids. “They [47] were deported after due legal process that included coordination with the embassies of the deportees to establish their identities,” a spokesman for the ROP said.

He appealed to everyone in the community to cooperate with the ROP to fight the menace of illegal residents in Oman. “People should not give shelter to those living illegally in the country and should inform police on 9999 or contact the nearest police station,” he urged.

The police have been relentlessly working with the Manpower Ministry and other agencies in Oman to root out illegal residents from the country. The police blame the increase in crime on illegal residents and also believe that the rise in drug-related cases is due to those entering the country illegally and living here in violation of Oman’s residency laws.
