Oman announces 284 new coronavirus cases

Dubai: Oman’s Ministry of Health reported an additional 284 new coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the total number of infections in the Sultanate to 4,625.

One more death from the virus has also been confirmed, pushing the country’s death toll to 19.

The ministry revealed that, of the new cases, 80 involve Omanis and 204 are expatriates.

It was also announced that a total of 1,350 people have recovered from coronavirus in the country. Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, said the mortality rate in the Sultanate among patients infected with Covid-19 is 0.4 percent.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Supreme Committee is to be held on Monday, which will “monitor the situation and explore options ahead of Eid Al Fitr holidays”.
