Muscat: Many private offices in Oman will have new timings when they resume work after a nine-day long Eid break on July 25. Although the total lockdown is over, the partial lockdown from 5pm till 4am that was introduced just before the Eid break is valid till July 31.

To accommodate the curfew requirement and to ensure the weekly working hours, many offices will be working from 8am till 4pm.

“I will have to pack my breakfast and a quick-bite lunch that can be had while doing my work. This is not new to us as my team is pretty much used to quick bites instead of working-lunch for the last several months with partial lockdown happening time and again,” says Khaled Ahmediya, who works at the back-end office of a leading hotel chain in the capital.

Many supermarkets had changed their timing at the start of the holidays. “While Eid holidays started on July 18 for everyone, we were open and working till the total lockdown started. We started opening at 6am from the day the new timing of partial curfew started, which is July 16. Since the curfew starts at 5pm we closed the till at 4pm. But we kept the shop open from 6 am without a break.” Kadher of Al Alam Supermarket in Al Khuwair said. There was a large crowd in most of the supermarkets today since early morning as customers thronged to get their refill of groceries, milk and bread after four days of total lockdown.
