Muscat: Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed on Tuesday issued a royal decree naming a head of Internal Security Services (ISS).

Major General Saeed Bin Ali Bin Zahir Al Hilali, who was the Assistant Head of the ISS, has been promoted as the new head of the agency that looks after internal security matters in Oman.

Al Hilali, who gets the rank of minister, is a brother of the country’s attorney-general, Hussain Bin Ali Bin Zahir Al Hilali.

Brigadier Ghosn Bin Hilal Bin Khalifa has been promoted to the rank of major general and appointed assistant to the ISS Chief. Brigadier Ahmad Bin Ali Bin Salman has also been promoted to the rank of major general and named the new secretary general of the National Security Council.
