Muscat: Oman will plant 100,000 coconut palm trees in the country’s southern Dhofar region, according to Sayyid Ali Bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court.
He told Oman News Agency that the country’s leader, Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed, had decided to give a royal grant for planting of the 100,000 coconut palm trees. “The Royal orders were a generous gesture to the agricultural sector in the country,” he added.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Salim Bin Hilal Al Khalili, Minister of Agriculture, expressed deep gratitude for the Royal grant issued to plant coconut trees in Dhofar, at a time when the Sultanate was celebrating the 40th anniversary of Renaissance Day.
Al Khalili told ONA that the Royal orders embody the Sultan’s wisdom and future vision to develop the agriculture sector and benefit from the Sultanate’s climatic diversity. “The aim is to reach a balanced agricultural development that covers all regions of the Sultanate,” he added.
