Mortal remains of Srinivasan handed over to Indian embassy

Muscat The Royal Oman Police (ROP) Wednesday released mortal remains of T. N. Srinivasan, who hanged himself to death in police detention.

The 54-year-old Indian was detained at the Muscat International Airport while transiting through Muscat on his way from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to Chennai in India.

According to police sources there was an alert against him from Abu Dhabi police for fraud.

“The body has been handed over and we are sending the remains by tonight’s Air India flight to Chennai,” a source at the Indian embassy told Gulf News.

An airline industry source at the Muscat International Airport also confirmed that all the formalities to fly Srinivasan’s body were completed and airline was ready to fly the body.

Since there was no one to accompany to the mortal remains of Srinivasan, the embassy, in an email message, had asked his wife S. S. Subbalaxmi S. to approach Air-India Chennai and complete the formalities and convey to the airline their  willingness to receive the mortal remains.
