Disagreement surfaced over Israel’s demand to have guards escort the team members
Muscat: An Israeli official said that Israel withdrew from international competition for surfing, to be held in Oman on October 17 to 24.
The Israeli official justified that both Israel and Oman couldn’t reach an agreement over some security arrangements, according to Al Sharq daily newspaper.
“Oman refused to allow Israeli guards to escort the team members to Muscat”, said an official at the Internal Israeli Security apparatus.
The official added that the internal security apparatus made strenuous efforts in trying to coordinate the appropriate security measures with Oman.
“The internal security decided to prevent the travel of the delegation.” explained the official.
An official at the Ministry of Sport Affairs confirmed the news to Gulf News but declined to give further details.
