Dubai: More than three quarters of Oman’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in three governorates: Muscat, North Batinah and South Batinah, local media has reported.

The Sultanate’s overall coronavirus infections have hit 101,270, according to the Health Ministry’s “Tarassud” coronavirus monitoring app.

Out of these, 48,990 are in Muscat, accounting for 48.3 per cent of all infections reported in the country, while there are 17,620 in North Al Batinah (17.3 per cent). South Al Batinah has recorded 11,262 infections, constituting 11.1 per cent of all reported cases.

The three governorates together account for 76.7 per cent of all infections reported in Oman since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in March.

The total number of recoveries has reached 90,296, with the recovery rate hitting 89.1 per cent.

Of the total recovered cases, 44,510 have been recorded in Muscat, 15,538 in North Al Batinah and 10,136 in South Al Batinah.

The recovery rate across Oman stood at 89.16 per cent, as of Sunday, while 977 have died. Some 210 patients have been admitted to intensive care units since the spread of the contagion, while 560 people required admission into healthcare centres in the country.
