Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health received a batch of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines provided by the Chinese government.

The priority however will be to use it to vaccinate the Chinese community residing in the Sultanate.

There is a sizeable Chinese population living in Oman who will benefit from this batch. Per reports, Sinovac is to be taken in two shots 21 days apart.

The newly arrived vaccine consignment comes within the framework of bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China.

Orderly manner

Omani Ministry of Health appreciated the gesture which was conveyed by China’s Ambassador to Oman, Li Lingbing.

In March this year, Chinese embassy in Oman, in order to resume the exchanges between Chinese and foreign people in an orderly manner, started facilitating visa issuance to travel to China.

Provisioned to certain category of visa applicants, the criteria mandated applicants to be vaccinated with the new crown pneumonia vaccine produced in China and have valid vaccination certificates.

The applicants must have been given 2 shots at the specified time interval or within 14 days after the first shot and issued with a vaccination certificate to be eligible to apply for visa.
