Muscat: Among the key points shared during the 16th press conference of the Supreme Committee held today was the one pertaining to residents being allowed to enter Oman without any prior approvals and reviewing the situation on the issuance of other types of visas. All travellers arriving into Oman must undergo a PCR examination and download the Tarassud Plus app that will monitor their movements.

Engineer Saeed bin Hammoud Al-Maawali Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said that the issuance of visas was discussed at the meeting of the Supreme Committee, and the door will be opened initially for citizens and residents who have a valid residence visa. “Based on the situational evaluation, a decision on opening other visas will be arrived at.”

Raise awareness

It was also informed that a mechanism will be put in place for people who tested positive and have undergone quarantine to travel, provided the necessary compliant measures are fulfilled. Dr. Abdullah Al Harrasi, Minister of Information appreciated the role played by media outlets, and social media influencers to raise the awareness about COVID-19. He also called on the talented youth of Oman and urged them to use their tech-savviness to come up with innovative ways to further raise awareness.

Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saeedi, Minister of Health, said that the MoH had recently firmed up an agreement with an international company to conduct COVID-19 tests in the Sultanate. This alliance resulted in a noticeable increase in the number of examinations that were conducted.

Dr. Saif Al Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at the Ministry of Health mentioned during the press briefing that the third phase of the National COVID-19 Serological Survey will begin from Sunday 27 September.
