Cairo: Oman Sunday confirmed 1,014 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing to 11,014 the country's overall infections, the Omani news agency ONA reported.
The newly diagnosed cases include 361 Omanis and 643 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.
The ministry also reported two new deaths from COVID-19, taking the country's total such fatalities to 44.
The latest deaths were a 44-year-old Omani man and a foreign resident aged 72, the ministry said.
The overall recoveries in Oman stand at 2,396 as the ministry reported no new recoveries.
Oman has repeatedly warned against violating precautions in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The Royal Oman Police said Sunday that a group of expatriates were arrested in the governorate Al Buraimi for holding a mourning ceremony in a house, breaching a ban issued by the Supreme Committee Tackling COVID-19. Fines were levied on the offenders.
