COVID-19: Oman records 1,557 cases, 5 deaths

Latest cases take infection tally to 47,735, fatalities to 218

Cairo: Oman on Monday recorded 1,557 new cases of the novel coronavirus amid a continued increase in the incidence rates. The latest cases bring the overall infections in the country to 47,735, the Omani news agency ONA reported.

The newly diagnosed cases include 1,057 Omanis and 500 foreign residents, the Health Ministry said without giving a breakdown of the foreigners' nationalities.

The ministry also announced five new deaths from COVID-19, bringing Oman's total such fatalities to 218.

The country's overall recoveries from the disease have reached 29,164, an increase of 2,178 against the tally reported the day before, the ministry's update showed.
