Dubai: Oman on Tuesday announced the extension of nighttime lockdown until July 31, while it imposed a complete closure during Eid Al Adha holidays, state media said.

The 11-hour curfew, from 5pm to 4am, was announced by the Supreme Committee to tackle COVID-19 as the Sultanate has recently witnessed a spike in the infections and deaths.

As per the decision, the ban on the movement of individuals and vehicles will begin on Friday, July 16, from 5pm to 4am daily until July 31. Commercial activities will also be closed during the period.

During the Eid holidays, there will be a complete closure in the Sultanate.

The committee also announced it was removing Egypt from the Red List. Oman added Singapore, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Argentina, Colombia, and Brunei to the list.
