Muscat: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi has said Oman has ensured a vaccine supply with the goal being to vaccinate up to 40 per cent of the country's population. Dr. Saeedi also welcomed health sector retirees who wish to come back to work in different areas of their choice.
Regarding the 70 per cent workforce in attendance in government offices, the Minister said that the decision to arrive at the working modalities of the 70 per cent workforce in government entities were left with the unit heads, with the 30 per cent staff required to work remotely who are not exempt from work.
Mosques reopen
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Bin Said Al Mamari, from the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs said that reopening of mosques will be done only after the custodian of every mosque fills in an electronic form expressing their readiness and ability to take precautionary measures.
He said 30 per cent mosques in Oman are allowed to open in the coming period, which translates to 3,000 mosques with 900 people, as it is easier to adhere to social distancing unlike the smaller mosques, where such measures become difficult to enforce. A guide listing the mosques that are open will be shared soon, Dr. Mohammed informed.
Supreme Committee also informed that sixty thousand Tablets (electronic device) were being distributed to students of limited economic means to ensure their education continues seamlessly. The technical team of the Supreme Committee has been in regular meetings and parleys with Royal Oman Police regarding issuance of new visa and an update is expected soon on this.
